P. Hinderer became pastor a few months after the death of the previous pastor, W. Bonhof, who died on 7 April 1890. P. Hinderer was called from the Minnesota Synod and he served both in the "Grace" (Gnaden) church and the St. John's (St. Johannes) church. (Both of these are Lutheran churches.)

  • Unlike his predecessor, Hinderer did not live in the St. Johannes Community, but instead lived in the Grace Community, which had built a new parsonage.
  • The old parsonage became the teacher's residence.
  • The first teacher there was a son of Pastor Bomhof.
  • He was followed in 1893 by a teacher named Schneider.
  • In 1895 the Grace Community built a new school.
  • Both Pastor Hinderer and Teacher Schneider went elsewhere in 1901.
