Baur Clan birthday gathering on July 5th, 1938. It was probably held in Springfield, MN where Jacob Baur had retired after 52 years in the active ministry. Jacob died two years after this picture of cerebral hemorrhage and is buried in Sanborn, MN].

Clara and Ralph were living in New Ulm, MN at the time. Ralph was attending Martin Luther High School in New Ulm.

It never fails to amaze me that Dad knew Jacob and Emilie. Dad knew people who were born in mid 1860's. I wonder if he ever asked them about life in Germany and the emigration to America. This sure makes Dad sound old!

I remember Dad commenting he is amazed he never broke an arm when starting an old crank car. It never dawned on me he was a teenage driver at the time.

Known people in picture:

Thank you Andrew Palmquist for help identifying these people. I numbered them. Can you please ID by the numbers? Are there any that you know, Beth Jones? Thanks!

Andrew Palmquist Thank you, Jim, for posting. What a great photo, comments, and info! If I may, the adults I recognize, l to r, are Margaret, Elfrieda, & Marie Streich, Cordelia Baur, Ruth Streich, Helen Baur, Lydia Baur Streich & Norma Streich (behind Helen and the young girls). I'm guessing Arthur Streich is the tall light haired gentleman in the back right
