----

One sweetly solemn thought
Comes to me o'er and o'er, --
Nearer my home, to-day am I
Than I have ever been before.

Nearer my Father's house,
Where the many mansions be;
Nearer to-day the great white throne,
Nearer the crystal sea.

Text of Funeral Address Rev. Heidmann Genesis 48, 21 "Then Israel said to Joseph, “I am about to die, but God will be with you and take you back to the land of your fathers." Siche Ich Sterbue + Gott Mid mit tauch sim.

Prof. A. Schaller Isaiah 25, 6-9 inclusive.

"On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples
    a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,
    of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.
7 And he will swallow up on this mountain
    the covering that is cast over all peoples,
    the veil that is spread over all nations.
8 He will swallow up death forever;
and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
    and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
    for the Lord has spoken.
9 It will be said on that day,
    “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us.
    This is the Lord; we have waited for him;
    let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”

From which none ever wakes to weep,
A calm and undisturbed repose,
Unbroken by the last of foes.

Asleep in Jesus! peaceful rest,
Whose waking is supremely blest,
No fear, no woe shall dim that hour
That manifests the Savior's power.

Floral Offerings

The only floral offerings he wished was a cross, crown and anchor. You and I got the cross for him.

Grandmother and Grandfather Baur, Cordy + Bea the crown,

and Uncle Art and Aunt Lydia, Uncle Ted, Marie and Agnes and Helen the anchor.

There were a few other pieces. A harp from the Millers at ???<ref>????</ref> and basket from the Yaegers at Sanborn. Chrysanthemums from the Ladies Aid and young people at Watertown, SD and a bouquet from the Webbers<ref> Grandpa Alfred Baur's brother Theodore married Laura Weber, a sister of Raymond Caspar Weber. Raymond was married to Irene E. Koch, a sister of Albert Koch (the deceased). So... Theodore was a brother-in-law of Raymond and Raymond was a brother-in-law of Albert. It appears we have a connection to the Sanborn Weber and Koch families. What makes it even more interesting are the ties to Saginaw. MI Weber and Schneider families. On top of that, Rev. Harold Sauer performed the burial of a Weber at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Just to make things a little more interesting, Jacob Baur's half sister, Barbara Sauer, married Henry F. Weber.</ref>. at Sanborn, from Teacher Lushing, from Julius Hasse, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, carnations from W. F. Sauer and Family and the day after the funeral a large bouquet of Chrysanthemums came from Chich (Rev. M. Mueller) and Chick (Rev. L. Acker) two pals at the Seminary.

They are a sleep: In the
morning they are like grass

Memoranda

Members of the congregation under the leadeship of the Laides Aid Society took care of all the guests that came to pay the past tribute to your Daddy.

All the relatives from Sanborn, as well as many ministers and friends came. Everything was well done and arranged for by them and the Vorstiher (Leader), and if your Daddy could have seen how well everything went on his funeral day and how good they have been to us since, he would praise them and His Father in Heaven for their many kindnesses to us in this, the saddest time of our lives.

Jesus, in mercy bring us
Soon to that land of rest
Who art, with God the Father
And Spirit ever blest!

Death is
swallowed
