Ralph Baur has graduated from NWC and is now at Sem preparing to go out vicaring. I am assuming the initiation had to do with preparing to vicar. As he writes, "Perhaps one of the most joyous days in my life."

Thiensville, Wis

July 14, 1944

Dear Mom,

As you know, this was the weekend of initiation and what a gala event it was. Now I as a member of the [Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, WI|Junior Class]] am imbued with the “Spirit” which makes for better and friendlier relationship on the campus.

I hear Gene was up here but as we were just in the middle of all festivities I was unable to see him. On this day no visitors are allowed. It is strictly a day for students.

The meal was excellent - all the chicken we could eat. After the meal we had a good evening of entertainment.

Tomorrow a bunch of fellows are leaving for Watertown.

It is already very late so I hope you will excuse my short note, but I did want you to know I received my diploma of initiation and am now a member in good faith. Perhaps one of the most joyous days in my life.

Received soap today - Thanks a lot.

Will write more later.

Love,

Ralph
