Notes

Good Morning Jim – Here’s some info that I have on Julia Marie Hinderer:

[[Julie Hinderer|Julia Marie was the third oldest child of the ten children had by Rev. Paul & Klara Hinderer. She was born in the Goodhue Township of Goodhue, Minnesota on February 21st, 1890. I’m sure she was Christened following her birth, although I do not have any record of it. Julia’s older brother Emmanuel shows up in a census in 1910 as living in the town of Douglas which is near Waterville, Washington. Sometime between then and 1913, Julia moved from South Dakota where her parents were living at, and went to Douglas/Waterville.

On July 15th of 1913 Julia married Walter Ford Lemon. Walter was a 40yr old farmer and Julia 23yrs. Walter was born in Monroe, Benton County, Oregon and had a couple of brothers and at least 4 sisters. If I remember right, his mother was part Indian on her own mothers side of the family.

Julia and Walter had several children – A son James Ford Lemon was born to them on September 4th, 1918 in Waterville. James spent a lot of time with Julia’s brother Ted and his wife Fern growing up as their children were about the same age and as you will soon see Julia was pretty busy running around getting married and just living her life. I believe this is the part where the rest of the family had a little trouble with her. She was a bit of a “drama queen” along with requiring male attention. Walter and Julia also had another son, Samuel Walter Lemon born February 20th, 1921. Samuel only lived to the age of three years when he died (can’t remember right now what took his life) but he passed on April 11th, 1924. His mother is buried next to him in Waterville. Walter and Julia also had a daughter Francis Marie “Franny” Lemon on February 21st, 1924.The loss of a child was very hard on Julia and the marriage began to crumble into divorce. (husband: Walter Ford Lemon died in 1947 January 1st,: He is buried in Oregon).

Julia soon needed another man, so she married a widow by the name of Mauritz Cnute Johnson on June 2nd 1927. Mauritz was a 49yr old widow. Mauritz had lost a son (1903) as well; and also his wife in 1918 to what I believe were complications during childbirth of their youngest daughter Evelyn. Mauritz had two sons Chester (22yrs) Oscar (17yrs) and two daughters Ellen (20yrs) and Evelyn (9yrs) that were mostly raised when he married Julia. By this time, Julia’s children were 6 and 3yrs of age. Mauritz was a farmer. This marriage also ended in divorce although I don’t know the year. (Mauritz was born in Texas February 13th, 1878 and died in Wenatchee, WA on February 19, 1951)

On January 7th of 1941 Julia marries for a third time to William Newton Estes. I’m not positive of how long this marriage lasted, but I have reason to believe it also ended in a divorce. Mr. Estes passed on September 30th, 1966 in Walla Walla, WA. I know Julia never lived there.

Julia herself passed on June 15th, 1969 in Waterville, WA. She is buried next to her three year old son Samuel.

Julia’s son James “Jim” Lemon married someone named Barbara J.(don’t know last name) and had a daughter. I believe they were later divorced and she passed in 1985. Jim had a car dealership in Oregon for a while and invested in a farming operation started by his Uncle Ted and Aunt Fern. I know he married a second time on December 20th, 1987 to Elnora “Marie” Bates. Jim passed from complications of Lou Gerhig's disease on July 23rd, 1990 in Benton County, OR. I have no information on his only daughter.

Julia’s daughter “Franny”, married LTC Earl Lake Rigor on May 28th 1942 when she was 18yrs of age; Earl was 24. They had one son, Gary Earl Rigor, born August 26th, 1944; and one daughter Jerie L.. I have very little info on these children except that Gary was married to Susette and died in 2005 in Oroville, WA. Jerie married someone with the last name of Serrano.

Franny was widowed in 1979 at the age of 55. In 2007 she lived in Ephrata, WA and in 2008 she lived in Moses Lake, WA but by the time of her death, on Christmas day 2012, she was in Shoreline, WA according to the death certificate.

This is all I can think of regarding Julia Marie Hinderer. Have a great day today……….TTYL Rene’

Ted and his wife Fern still lived in the Waterville area. Ted and Fern had two sons; Kenneth and Blaine. Ted and Fern also took care of Aunt Julia’s son Jim Lemon a great deal of the time.

Rosemarie Hinderer 1:17pm Apr 28 Aunt Julia and Aunt Elsie looked very much alike

Memories

  • Baur kids-Julia having coffee and cigarettes for breakfast.
  • Lyla Jaus - She was a nurse and in SEA for many years. Guess she was a caring nurse, even in the hosp. sitting on the bed pan to warm it.
