Harvey F. Meyer

GIBBON - Services for Harvey F. Meyer, 66, of 1415 North Minnesota, New Ulm, who died Monday, November 2, 1987 at the Sioux Valley Hospital in New Ulm, MN were held Thursday at three St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Ulm. Burial was in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military rites were conducted at the cemetery.

He was born June 27, 1921 in rural Gibbon to Fred W. and Anna (nee Boettcher) Meyer. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1946 serving in the South Pacific. He married Myrtle Jaus on August 18, 1946 at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, Sibley County. He was employed at the Hauser Lumber Company in Gibbon from 1946-1952. He then farmed north of Gibbon from 1952 until 1965 when they moved to New Ulm in October of 1965. He was then employed at 3M from 1965 until 1984 when he retired because of failing health. He was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and of the Ben J. Seifert American Legion Post #132 in New Ulm.

He is survived by his wife Myrtle of New Ulm, daughters Geraldine (Mrs. Gerald) Steffen of Sanborn, Ramona (Mrs. Timothy) Potter of Lawton, Oklahoma, Karen (Mrs. Steven) Gilreath of Wolfschlugen, West Germany; a son, Gene Meyer of New Ulm, five grandchildren and one sister, Florence (Mrs. Gordon) Kiehn of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lester Meyer.
