Hinderer & Egan

Hinderer and Egan was a Seattle law firm in which Winfred Hinderer was partner with Frank Egan. It appears they handled many areas of law including corporate law, personal injury, real estate, and divorce.

Family legend states Winfred's Law partner was a founder of United Parcel Service (UPS). UPS did have it's beginnings in Seattle, however it was long before Winfred graduated from law school. Given the nature of UPS, I am confident the law firm made use of UPS.

I don't know anything about Frank Egan. However, history of UPS often states "a friend" loaned the seed money to the UPS founder (James Casey) in 1917. The $100 loan is equivalent to about $2400 in 2010. It is also possible he worked as a courier.

There were quite a few messenger services already in the Seattle area. The early UPS merged with another carrier. Perhaps Egan was involved with this other carrier.

I wonder if the firm was involved with the teamster strikes or if this is why their client went out of business
