This letter was written to Clara Baur by a woman who had lived in DMLC's Centenial Hall when Clara was the Dorm Mother. It appears she got married right out of High School.

Dearest Mrs. Bauer, How does one put on paere what he feels in his heart? I feel as though I’d like to tell you everything that has happened in the past 20 years, all in one breath!

It is so strange that I should finally get your address after all this time - the last address I had was Broken Bow and I was anagle to get any further until I got a letter from my Mother, this week past - and her information sure came in a round-about-way.

At any rate, I’m just as anxious to hear from and about you!

I must tell you that the purpose and direction of my life is attributable to you. Any positive feeling I have, seem to directly have come from your love and devotion to a lonely, mixed-up young teenager. I have never forgotten, and will always love you for it.

Now a quick run-down of the beautiful life God has given me. The road has been rocky, but always sure. I married at 18, had my first son at 19 - then had three more sons - all 3 years apart. They are now; Mark, age 20, who is in the Navy at San Diego. He is the finest son anyone could ever have. He has been a “special joy” since the day was born.

Then next is David, age 17, who is my “rebel child,” the spice of my life. He quit school, doesn’t work steady, but manages (quite well) to keep me on my toes. I never know what's coming next! Last night we had a family picnic at a park here in Norfolk, and he climbed the flagpole - just for fun! He is such a free spirit, one must stand in awe (and inspiration) for his love of life and surroundings! I love him!

Next is Joe. He is now fourteen. He is the intelligence at our house. He is very mature, holds a summer job with the neighborhood Youth Corps. He has not missed a day since he started, and is very devoted to his job, even though its just as an assistant janitor at the school here. He is also on the honor-roll every semester, and a state-champion bowler. A real “pride” for his Mom - and I love him dearly!

Then there’s my youngest! He is now 11 years old. If you can believe this, he is a perfect combination of the other three. He has the stability, warmth, affection and gentility of his oldest brother; the “spice” of his next brother; and the pride-inspiring aspirations for greatness of Joe. This young man we call Jeffry. An I truly love this little fellow. AND; I thank God for each one of them as a special blessing.

And just a note about me. Not such a pretty story, but I have learned to live this life for the good it has to offer, and not look back; trusting in the Lord to make the road a smother one as time goes on.

I have been married twice. In 1954 I married the boys father. After 13 years he found greener pastures (a woman older that my Mother) and we were divorced. I then married Try Warren. He is a fine and beautiful person, but can’t stay out of trouble. He is in the Nebraska Penal Complex at Lincoln right now for writing bad checks. This is the third time since we’ve been married. The boys and I are “alone together” again.

I work in the shipping dept at an electronics factory here in Norfolk. Dale Electronics Inc at 2300 Riverside Blvd. I enjoy my work and he people I work with. I work from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. This gives me breakfast and “get-ready-for-school time” with the boys and evenings, also.

Now, to close for this time. Please let us know how you are and the path of your life these past years.

May God bless always!

Sincerely, Kay (Judd) Warren

P.S. My address; Mrs. Kay Warren 807 So 12th St. Norfolk, Nebr. 68701
