Dear Father,

In my last letter I stated that I would come home Wednesday but I believe I won't be able because the mumps went down into my testicles + I want to be able to be up. Otto Netzke will remain with me until I am well.

Comments Alfred would have been 16 years old and a student at DMLC.

Otto Netzke appears to have been a schoolmate of Alfred and lived in Morgan, MN. In 1910 Otto left DMLC to teach school in Wood Lake, MN and then headed for Springfield, IL.
