23 year old Jacob Baur married 17 year old Emilie Sommerfeld July 5th, 1888. He was the pastor at Zion Lutheran Church, Sanborn, MN.

Emilie was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, MN. They were married by Rev. S. Deuber. The wedding text was Tob 7:15 <ref>Tobit 7:15 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)
