Notes

Susan Jones: Reinhold was my Grandpa Winnie Glaeser's Dad. This is the history we have: He was born somewhere in WI( don't have records due to fires) in 1856. At 11 he moved to Norwood, MN and at 19 homesteaded the Michaelis farm about 5 mi. north of Gibbon and 1 mi. east of the old Moltke Cream Station. He lost that claim due to being a minor. Then bought the present Glaeser farm, part by tree claim and part thru purchase. He built his 1st home in 1879, 1/4th of a mile north of the present home. His original house was moved and it is now our current kitchen. He had 2 families. 1st wife was Wilhemina Scheele and they had 11 children. She died at age 37 due to a hemorrage after child birth in 1897. He married Emma Schroeder in 1900, daughter of Carl Schroeder a teacher at Moltke. She was 23 when she married and they had 5 more children, Grandpa was one of them. When Reinhold died in 1908, she married Ed Ruschmeyer in 1913.

It is always a challenge to decide how deep to dig into something... how deep into the rabbit hole should I go???

I've been trying to figure out some information of Edward Scheele. What I have found out is he lived in Wood Lake, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, USA. His son, Urban, died in 1914 and is buried there.

Also found out he was a druggist between 1913 and 1914 at Woodlake Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, USA. I'm also under the impression he was a druggist in Hutchinson. I can't find a census record for 1915.

In 1919 Edward died in McLeod County, Minnesota, USA and is buried in Gibbon, Sibley County. I assume this is because Lydia Jaus planned on moving back home.

Can anybody help me make some sense out of these facts? I think the big question is why did he die in McLeod County????

Just figured that out. Hutchinson is in McLeod County. Edward must have sold his drugstore in Woodlake and bought a new one in Hutchinson....

Appreciate any other thoughts. A special thanks to Lois L Bode and Steve Kleist. I kept running into their names during my search. They have done a lot of work on this! Thanks!

The original plan was to train workers in foreign languages at Union College, but by 1909 that institution had become so crowded that it was voted to establish separate schools. L. H.
