Obituary for Clara A. Litt http://www.jonesjonesbetts.com/obituaries

Clara A. Litt, 93, of East Wenatchee, WA died Friday, July 14, following a brain hemorrhage and heart attack. Clara was born to Chris & Mattie (Viebrock) Hinderer on March 31, 1924 in Waterville, WA. She attended school in White Bluffs, WA and graduated from White Bluffs High School.

Clara met the love her life, Andy Litt, in White Bluffs when he was on a trip to purchase a cow for a friend and was injured by a beam on the Wahluke Ferry, causing him to spend his recovery time there. They were married in White Bluffs on March 22, 1943. They then moved to Almira, WA where they made their home for 32 years. In August of 1944, their daughter, Cheryl, was born. Another daughter, Carol, was born in August of 1945. Son, Jerry, was born in December of 1949.

Clara was the ultimate volunteer. All anyone had to do was ask and she was there, whether it was volunteering at school events, community activities, or leading a 4-H group, the list goes on and on. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran church and was a Sunday School teacher and active on many committees at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Almira. She was currently a member of Celebration Lutheran Church in East Wenatchee. She was an accomplished cake decorator (and mint-maker) and seamstress (making many recital dresses & formals for her girls) among other things. She loved playing cards (especially with Vern and Lee Coppersmith), dancing (attending many Almira Firemen’s Balls), fishing alongside Andy, and gardening, along with other hobbies.

Clara’s true love was her family. She dearly loved every one of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy! She was happiest when she could attend a ball game, recital, concert, parade, or anything they were involved in. If she couldn’t be there in person, she certainly was in spirit. She considered the Coppersmith family as part of her own and their children were like grandchildren to her and Andy.

Clara worked as a bank teller for National Bank of Commerce and Rainier Bank in Almira and Key Bank in Wenatchee. After retirement, Clara and Andy lived in Hartline, Coulee City, and East Wenatchee. After moving to Coulee City, she worked part time for Wheatland Bank; but she was most proud of the children she tutored in the elementary school there.

Clara is survived by her children: Cheryl (Rob) Salter, East Wenatchee, WA, Carol (Doug) Coleman, Richland, WA, and Jerry (Donna) Litt, Coulee City, WA; her grandchildren: Brion (Paula) Salter, East Wenatchee, WA, Kevin (Joanne) Salter, Monroe, WA, Todd (Sheridan) Coleman, Star, ID, Scott (Lori) Coleman, Richland, WA, Jenifer Hollenbeck, Richland, WA, Jason (Ann) Litt, Renton, WA, and Casey Litt, Wenatchee, WA; great grandchildren: Shannon & Molly Salter, Ella & Grace Salter, Cheyenne, Shaylee & Kayden Coleman, Haley & Jack Coleman, Hannah Hollenbeck, and Eli Litt. She is also survived by her brother, Ramon Hinderer, and sister, Joan Eskew, both of East Wenatchee, numerous nieces and nephews, and her many ‘adopted’ grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Andy Litt, her parents, brothers Chris, Alfred & Edward and sister, Elva (Hinderer) Choquette.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Celebration Lutheran Church, East Wenatchee, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Celebration Lutheran Church’s National Youth Gathering Fund.
