My dearests! I also don't want to miss, to say thanks to you on my own for all the love and good you've shown us. We have purposefully used everything and have been quite happy for it. It was so nice of you to even think about us. Please excuse my bad Latin script. I only write German script and I'm not used to Latin script at all.

My dear husband found such a pleasure in the socks and he loves wearing them. He can put them on so easily because they stretch so well.

Therefore, again much most-heartfelt thanks for your love. It is a great worry that my dear husband is so sick, he has done so many good things for me. Give God that it will improve soon, he has to endure so much pain.

There was so much want to deal with during the war. Praise to the Lord it's at least a little bit better now. Butter and lard are still in low supply. But we live in the steadfast hope that things will improve soon and that the worst has been overcome.

Meine Lieben! Auch ich möchte nicht versäumen, Euch auch meinerseits für alles uns erwie- sene Liebe und Gute recht in- nigen Dank zu sagen. Wir haben alles nützlich verwer- tet und waren recht froh davon. Es war so lieb von Euch, daß Ihr überhaupt an uns dachtet. Entschuldigt bitte, daß meine lateinische Schrift so schlecht ist. Ich schrei- be immer nur deutsche Schrift u. lateinisch ist mir gar nicht geläufig. Mein lieber Mann hatte an den Socken eine solche Freude und trägt sie sehr gern. Er kann sie so leicht schlupfen, weil sie sich so gut dehnen.

Also nochmals für Eure Liebe vielen herzlichen Dank. Es ist mir so eine große Sorge daß mein l. Mann so krank ist, er hat mir so viel Gutes ge- tan. Gebe Gott, daß es bald wie- der besser geht, er muss so viele Schmerzen ausstehen. Man mußte eben während dem Krieg zu viele Entbehrungen auf sich nehmen. Gottlob ist es wenigstens etwas besser jetzt. Butter und Schmalz ist immer noch sehr knapp. Wir leben aber in der festen Hoffnung, daß es bald besser wird und das Schlimmste über- wunden ist. Nochmals Herz- innigsten Dank und viele liebe Grüsse Euch allen, eure Tante
