Myrtle Jaus:

Even though Aunt Yetta never had any children of her own, she played an important role in raising the seven motherless children of her brother Fred. She had an instant family when she was married that same year. There home was in Henderson, MN, but Uncle Art would take her out to the farm every moring and pick her up every evening. They did this for many years. I had the opportunity to spend six weeks at the Furch home in 1930 when sister Lyla was born. It was quite exciting to go out to the farm every day. Ruth had so many pretty dolls for me to play with. Occasionally we would walk through the pasture to visit the grandparents.

Uncle Art was the owner of a stem engine of which he was very proud. He traveled from plae to place to furnish power for threshing machines, the pea viner, etc. Roman recalls visiting the Furch home during the summer when he was a little boy. Uncle Art took him along to get some ice from the ice house. This was then used to make home-made ice cream. Making ice cream in summer was unheard of to us.

Uncle Art died of a Cerebral Hemorrhage at age 79. Aunt Yetta continued to live in her house. This was hit by the flood in 1965. She died of an Acute Coronary Thrombosis in December of 1965 - age 81.
